📋 The Orivet 5-Point Collection Process

Verify Dog ID Scan the entire body — don't rely on the breeder's "usual spot." Record the microchip number. Confirm owner, animal name, breed and DOB. If no chip found, tick "Chip not found" and note clearly on form.

Collect Swabs Wait 20 minutes after food or treats (water is fine). Use 3 swabs — 20 seconds each, swirl & roll, both cheeks. Stand swabs bristle-up in a cup until fully air-dried before sealing.

Sign Off Form Owner completes their section and affixes the swab packet barcode. You complete only the Collector's Details section: date, Agent ID, confirm microchip verified, and sign.

Bag & Barcodes Place in tamper-proof bag. The TB barcode identifies the bag for chain-of-custody only. The swab packet barcode (numeric) is what the owner uses to activate tests online.

Portal & Wrap-up Log in the Collection Agent Portal: Bag ID, sample count, owner details, date, and your Agent ID (required for loyalty points). Remind owner to activate using the swab packet barcode.
🏷️ Understanding the Two Barcodes
Barcode Format Purpose
TB Barcode
e.g. TB216766		 Starts with "TB" Identifies the tamper-proof bag. For chain-of-custody only. Not used for test activation.
Swab Packet Barcode
e.g. R16285, 155652		 Numeric Identifies the DNA sample. Owner activates online via "Redeem Tests". 5 stickers per packet.
⚠️ Compliance Rules
Ethics
You must not collect from a dog you own, co-own, or co-bred.
Payments
Never accept payments. Owners pay Orivet directly via their account.
Shipping
You do not handle shipping. The sealed bag is transported per Orivet's process.
Results
Results go to the owner only. Collection agents do not receive results.
🔍 Common Issues That Delay Results
Wet Swabs
Sealed before fully air-dried. Fix: Stand bristle-up in cup until dry to the touch.
Wrong Barcode Activated
Owner used TB bag barcode. Fix: Activation uses swab packet barcode only.
Insufficient Cells
Too brief or too gentle. Fix: Pinch cheek firmly. Full 20 seconds, swirl & roll, both cheeks.
ID Mismatch
Bag ID, form, and portal don't match. Fix: Align all three before leaving — read each aloud.
